SMTP authentication guide

Authenticated SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) allows users who connect via dial-up, DSL, or cable modem through non-Wyith/DomainAvenue.com Internet service providers to use our outgoing mail server. To use the authenticated SMTP service, you must configure your e-mail client following the instructions listed below.

How to set up outgoing mail authentication

The tables below have instructions for setting up (configuring) popular e-mail software to use the authenticated SMTP server. An alternative to configuring or reconfiguring your software is to use our Webmail service, please contact us for details.

I cannot access the authenticated outgoing mailserver ...

If your password is longer than 8 characters, try entering just the first 8 characters of the password. This is because the server automatically ignores the ninth character and onwards. It is also possible that you cannot use the authenticated SMTP server because either your mail program is not supported, or your Internet service provider prevents you from accessing all third-party SMTP servers, like MSN, COX and AOL. In this case, you have the following options:

If you are using MSN, COX or AOL (or some other ISPs that also block third party SMTP servers, you can try changing the default outgoing mailserver name to FASTSMTP.wyith.net, instead of the normal REMOTESMTP.WYITH.NET, and the port number from the standard 25 to 5190 or 3389.

If you are connected to the Internet with another service provider, contact them for help on using their SMTP or outgoing mail server. Using their outgoing mail server will not affect your ability to use your email account associated with your own domain name.

Business broadband subscribers

Please use FASTSMTP.WYITH.NET if you are using our business broadband connection. You will not need to use any username/password as long as you are using our connection.
