Fake renewal notices from Melbourne IT imposter

DomainAvenue.com has become aware that unsolicited notices are being sent to its customers from a Melbourne IT imposter using an email address like noreply@melbourneit.com or noreply@melbourneit.com.au etc. These notices are asking people to submit their credit card details to what appears to be a Melbourne IT branded web site. (Melbourne IT is one of our ICANN Registrar Partners). The email usually contains:

Claims to be Melbourne IT
Claims that the registrant's domain name will be deleted within 3 days and is urgently due for renewal; and
3. Asks the registrant to access the online facility and make payment to renew the domain name at, for example, www.melbourneit.com:cgi-bin@24.194.47.47:8080 (note that the above URL appears to be changing).

The entity sending these notices has no association with our partner, Melbourne IT. The notices appear to be intended to mislead and deceive the registrants in order to obtain their credit card details.

We were notified that Melbourne IT is pursuing this matter down a number of avenues to try to ensure that the online facility is rendered inoperable. Melbourne IT has also reported the matter to the relevant police authorities.

We hereby strongly advise that you should not give out your credit card details to this scam site. Your renewal notice should only comes from Wyith Limited d/b/a DomainAvenue.com, and not Melbourne IT or anyone else.
